She spent many years dabbling with makeup, before working for M.A.C cosmetics www.maccosmetics.com, on their Dunedin counter as a Retail Makeup Artist, during 2004. Not only did this serve to fuel her passion, but it enabled her to further develop her skills, working alongside some of New Zealand's most prominent Makeup artists.

Since moving to Wanaka early 2005, Gena has specialised in makeup application for brides. Her philosophy is that your wedding day should be relaxed and enjoyable, and she is there to make you look and feel as beautiful and radiant as possible. She only uses M.A.C cosmetics as she knows that the colour payoff and durability of the product, far exceeds many others on the market.
